Support to proposal assessments, the Green Climate Fund (GCF)

Published

The Helpdesk recently concluded its support to Sida in assessing funding proposals, submitted by countries for consideration by the GCF Board at its 44th meeting. As a contributor and active partner to GCF, Sweden provides comments on proposals, and several Swedish actors, including Sida, support the process.

The Green Climate Fund

GCF is a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement. GCF is the world’s largest climate fund, mandated to support developing countries to raise and realize their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) ambitions towards low-emissions, climate-resilient pathways. GCF is mandated to invest 50% of its resources to mitigation and 50% to adaptation in grant equivalent. At least half of its adaptation resources must be invested in the most climate vulnerable countries (SIDS, LDCs, and African States). Learn more about GCF at the GCF website.

Sweden has been a long-term contributor to GCF. Access Sweden’s Strategy for Cooperation with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) 2023–2026 here (in Swedish).
